Women’s Programs

In partnership with the White House Equal Futures Partnership launched by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett in 2012, Veterans Campaign created a special women's program to train emerging women veteran leaders to pursue a "Second Service" in civic and political leadership.

2019 Women's Symposium

In May 2019, a group of veteran women and military spouses gathered at Jones-Day Law Firm in Washington DC, to discuss women’s pathways to leadership and how women can model new paradigms of leadership to empower military spouses and veterans to civic leadership. The event was once again a joint endeavor by Veterans Campaign and Homefront Rising, this time with the generous support of the National Military Family Association. Participants explored various pathways to service, gaining perspective from an experienced panel which included a Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-8), a congressional staffer, a member of the VA Board of Appeals, and the CEO of a major veterans non-profit organization. They participated in an interactive workshop that prepared them to tell their stories, pitch stories to the media, and effectively master the media environment to advance their goals.

Former Marine Corps Officer and congressional candidate Amy McGrath gave an inspiring keynote address about her path to pursue a Second Service and her lessons learned on the trail.

2016 Women's Symposium

A select group of 25 women veterans were selected for our second annual Women Veterans Symposium June 17-18th, 2016 in partnership with Homefront Rising and the Atlantic Council's Millennium Leadership Program. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and partners, all participants had the opportunity to also attend a follow on Candidate Training Workshop in July, allowing us to expand the Symposium to the specific interests, challenges, and opportunities for emerging women veteran leaders and learn from a select cadre of political professionals, activists, academic researchers, and distinguished public servants. 2015 text
