Ohio Statehouse Vets Praise Women in Combat Decision
Some female veterans serving in the Ohio House are applauding the decision of Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to lift the ban on women in combat.
“This decision opens the door for women serving in the Armed Services to advance their careers and serve their country in all capacities,” said Rep. Heather Bishoff, D-Blacklick, a veteran who received the Ohio Soldier of the Year award in 1996 and earned the Army Commendation Medal. “This is a tremendous victory for equality and justice in our military and a giant step forward.”
